Geonta Simmons is running for the House of Delegates in District 12B. He’ll bring a bold new vision for the community’s future
Addressing Your Concerns
For decades, Brooklyn Park has struggled with complications caused by its zip code designation. Although Brooklyn Park is part of Anne Arundel County, its assigned zip code—21225—also covers parts of Baltimore City. This longstanding oversight has led to critical issues for residents, including delayed emergency services, undelivered mail due to address discrepancies, denial of services from businesses that exclusively serve Anne Arundel County, and increased taxes and insurance rates due to policies based on Baltimore City residency. This problem has persisted for far too long. As your next Delegate, I will relentlessly advocate for action at the local, state, and federal levels to finally resolve this issue.

Economic Development
District 12B is one of the most economically disadvantaged areas in Anne Arundel County, and it shows. Abandoned and decaying buildings have become an all-too-familiar sight, while thriving areas like Severna Park and Annapolis have consistently received their share of the budget. Now, it’s 12B’s turn. Our community deserves real investment but we lack even the most basic resources. The closure of businesses like the Lidl grocery in Brooklyn Park has left residents without reliable access to fresh fruits and produce, a situation that is simply unacceptable. It’s time for a Delegate who will fight tirelessly to attract investors and economic stakeholders to our district. I will work hand in hand with both the public and private sectors to bring much-needed resources and opportunity to 12B.
Affordable Housing
Maryland is one of the most expensive states in the country—a testament to our strong economy, but also a burden on residents struggling with rising housing costs. It shouldn’t be this way. As a member of Gen Z, I know firsthand the challenges of the affordable housing crisis. Too many young adults graduate college with degrees that don’t guarantee them jobs, only to face a housing market that is out of reach. Families and seniors are also being priced out of their own communities. As your next Delegate, I will make affordable housing a top priority. Housing is a human right, not a privilege.
